One week from tomorrow...

I am excited!!!

Next week we hit the road.  Thankfully it's not this week.  We are in the middle of a tropical storm that is dumping lots of rain.  We need it really bad so no complaining.

Ken emailed me this morning to see if we are still going.  Of course we are.  I asked him if he has been riding any to get ready.  He said he hasn't had time to ride at all.  OUCH!!  That's going to hurt after the first 200 miles.

I texted Aaron, our "Bed and Breakfast" owner in Dallas to confirm  that we are still good for next Wed night.  He responded "absolutely"!  I was glad to hear it.  I don't really want to sleep on a park bench unless I absolutely have to.

Also sent a text to Justin in Missouri to get his address so I can detail the route map.

Slowly chipping away at the details.  Launch day will be here before I know it.  I am going through my bags one more time tonight to see if I can jettison anything.  So far it looks like I have the essentials.  Doesn't everyone going on a long distance motorcycle ride need 4 sticks of fat wood, 1 tinfoil pouch of cotton balls soaked in Vaseline and a Firesteel with magnesium stick?  I do!

Here is a lineup of the bikes we will be riding.  Ken has a Harley V-Rod.  It is an anniversary edition with the black and silver paint scheme.  It is a nice bike and it's a "metric" Harley so my tool kit will work with it.  John rides a 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100.  It is a silvery blue color (not sure what Yamaha calls it).  I ride a 2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100 that is raven black and liquid gold 2-tone.  Mine is faster than John's because I have black on my bike.  Everyone knows black motorcycles are faster.

That's it for tonight.  Tomorrow starts the one week countdown.

YES...I AM VERY EXCITED!
